Phil Maturano:
My Favorite things - A classic standard that everyone enjoys. As you know I love to mix genres and keep music moving forward as much as possible by integrating different grooves into Jazz formats. This groove was inspired by a little boy in Africa. Apparently in Nigeria. I saw him playing in a video. It seems a tourist took the video and uploaded it. He was playing on some kind of home made drumset. Cans buckets, old bicycle parts too it seems. But what he played really grabbed my attention and inspired me to learn what he was doing. It led me down many new and undiscovered drumming possibilities. What seems so easy for him...is not easy at all! So here it is...After a couple of years of working on this groove we have it in music! With a Jazz twist!
We have recorded all the music with HQ video as well as audio. Its a new way I am presenting the music. Giving everyone a couple of different options on how to hear it. It's a new way of doing things I think and one that can give you much more insight into performances. I truly appreciate everyone that buys the CD and of course all the artwork comes included with your download.
