Johnny Rabb is the drummer for the platinum-selling rock band Collective Soul. He has
recorded on Collective Soul's albums See What You Started By Continuing (2015), Collective
Soul LIVE (2017), and Blood (2019). The band is touring across the U.S. and internationally,
and active in the studio recording new music.
Outside of touring and recording with Collective Soul, he is the founder of his own drumstick
company, Johnny Rabb Drumsticks. He is the co-founder of NU80 — "The Ultimate '80s Music
Experience" — playing synth-pop hits of the 1980s. The band has also recorded and
released an original five-song EP.
In his extensive career, Johnny has been an innovator of both new sounds and new instruments.
He invented the patented RhythmSaw, developed the Freehand Technique, and designed the
award-winning Drumbal and Safari cymbals as part of the MEINL Generation-X line.
As an accomplished author, Johnny continues his passion for music education. The Official
Freehand Technique has been utilized by drummers around the world. Johnny was also voted #1
Best Educational Author by the Modern Drummer Readers Poll for his book Jungle Drum 'N' Bass
for the Acoustic Drum Set.
Johnny has toured with country artists Tanya Tucker, Hank Williams III, SheDaisy, Mindy
McCready and Deana Carter; Big Band legend Maynard Ferguson; and fusion artists Alain Caron
and Frank Gambale.
He has traveled worldwide conducting countless clinics and master classes, including the
Montreal Drumfest, PASIC, Musik Messe, MEINL Drum Festival, Drummer Fest (Belgium),
Australia's Ultimate Drummer's Weekend, KOSA and RHYTHM.
